About Us

We are a cosy, modern café in the heart of the New Forest; come and treat yourself to a delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch, a big tempting slice of homemade cake, a fresh homemade scone or a thick, delicious milkshake made with ice cream!

We bake our scones daily, make all our cakes by hand, fresh thick cut bread from the local bakery and offer good, home cooked food using quality and local produce. We offer an array of delicious ground coffees made by skilled baristas, from the perfect flat white to an iced latte, we can make your coffee just the way you like it.

Why not treat yourself to one of our Afternoon Teas? They are perfect for sharing too.

Please see our menu for more information about what we offer.

Peggy May’s is run by a family who pride themselves on excellent, friendly service and high quality food and drink, which is why our customers come back for more and are always happy to tell us how much they have enjoyed their visit.

What our customers say

Sally B

"I always come here when I'm in the New Forest. Lovely quality sausages bacon and eggs. Always cooked fresh to order. Proper bakers bread with real butter. Lovely polite waitress."

Sue T

"Found Peggy Mays Cafe last year and had to return. Excellent lunch at reasonable price, very pretty surroundings, delightful young staff, all in a lovely friendly atmosphere, we just wished we lived nearer!"

Victor S

"Popped in for tea and scone. Happy warm welcome. Scones so light I could have eaten more, but that would have been piggish. Cakes looked so tempting. A definite MUST RETURN. V&H"

Robert C

"A warm welcome awaits you very clean, friendly staff, good choice of food, very reasonable prices. We had coffee & cakes mid afternoon and pleased to say cakes were nice & fresh."

La-Claudia

"Popped into this coffee/ tea shop for a cream tea and it did not dissapoint! The scones were warm, soft and home made. Jam and cream was served in individual disposable pots but we had a decent amount. The kids had milkshakes and more home made cakes and they finished it all off! Not a crumb in site! The staff were so very friendly and served every dish with a smile. Also delighted to hear they allow dogs! Will definitely be back!"
